Salish Coast LIVE Winter Gathering

Join us as we honour Tsleil-Waututh culture, land & water in the face of a proposed Kinder Morgan pipeline expansion. The Gathering rallies support for a Salish Sea Treaty to stop tarsands pipelines and tankers. The federal government and National Energy Board are fast-tracking the Kinder Morgan pipeline expansion, and as Ta’ah George says, it’s time to “Warrior up!”

With celebrated musical trio A Tribe Called Red as special guests, Salish Coast LIVE rallies support for the Salish Sea Treaty. Hosted by the Tsleil-Waututh Nation Sacred Trust, this winter gathering brings together Coast Salish youth and Elders, as well as cultural, media, and environmental workers. An evening downtown concert experience is the celebratory ending to a rich day of learning and mobilisation.

The event helps inspire connection between Coast Salish Nations’ youth (from Tsleil-Waututh to Sto:lo to Tswwassen...), Urban Indigenous youth, residents of Metro Vancouver, environmental groups and other opponents of Kinder Morgan. Confirmed resource people include: Rueben George, Ta’ah (Amy) George, Charlene Aleck, Carleen Thomas, Jessica Clogg, Melina Laboucan-Massimo, Eugene Boulanger, Gabriel George, Brigette DePape, Sean Devlin, Gord Hill, Jayce Salloum, Kai Nagata, Mike George, Lido Pimienta, A Tribe Called Red, Ben West, Mandy Nahanee, and ++ a dozen more!

We are currently fundraising so that the cost of participation is free for Tsleil Waututh and Coast Salish participants. We are asking environmental and progressive groups to sponsor their participants as well as additional Coast Salish participants with a $500-1500 contribution. This is both an act of solidarity, as well encourages participants and groups to support the true cost of this major event. We would be pleased to send a proposal to your group so that you and others can participate. [Contact:].

The registration tickets are structured so that people with access to financial resources contribute fairly, and Indigenous participants have their fees waived in order to support redress and participation. We ideally would have everyone's participation costs waived, but we have not yet raised sufficient money to do that. Therefore for the month of January we have structured a $40 subsidized ticket, and $60 regular ticket. If you already have your A Tribe Called Red evening ticket, simply register for the weekend by clicking on the All Events - except Commodore" option.

The Commodore show will be sold out long before the Gathering - and is currently being sold at $30 just by itself (on TicketWeb). so the NEXT 80 PEOPLE TO REGISTER HERE WILL GET THE COMMODORE TICKET INCLUDED. After that it will be sold out. If you want to participate and are unable to afford these fees, please do get in touch with us. It is time to Warrior Up! and while this prject is very costly to produce, no one will be turned away for lack of funds. Do be in touch, or select the 'by donation" option.

If you do not have a credit card, you can select the "Other Payment Options" and complete your payment at the door. We are continuing to fundraise to ensure the event is accessible to all. If you are unable to afford the full costs for events, note many events are free such as the Saturday afternoon program, and the Friday and Saturday evening events are by donation. Only the Commodore Ballroom show has a fixed costs. Help us by making a donation for what you can afford.
